Will my deposit be at risk?
No. Utopic RX mounts on your existing euro-profile cylinder without drilling or altering the lock body. When you move out, unscrew the unit and the door looks exactly as before. There is no permanent modification landlords can cite. Many Dubai and Sharjah renters choose it because installation is fully reversible. Do I need landlord permission?
In the UAE, tenants typically need landlord consent before changing locks or fittings. Utopic RX is a reversible add-on, not a replacement lock, which many landlords accept once they see no holes are drilled. Send photos with our one-page approval template. Your physical key still works and the lock removes cleanly at end of tenancy. If your lease bans hardware changes, get written permission first via

What if the battery dies?
A dead battery never traps you inside or out. Your physical key always works regardless of charge. The DESi Smart app alerts at 20% and 10%, and battery level is always visible. Expect four to six months per USB-C charge depending on mode. Plug a power bank into USB-C for temporary charging. Enable energy-saving mode before long trips to extend runtime.
Can it be hacked?
BLE uses AES-128 encryption and proximity authentication via the DESi Smart app. The base lock has no always-on internet; remote access needs the optional WiFi Bridge with TLS. Signed over-the-air firmware updates ship regularly. No lock is unhackable, but Utopic RX follows standard smart-lock security. Keep the app updated, lock your phone, and revoke guest access when no longer needed.
Does it work without WiFi?
Yes for daily unlocking. Bluetooth BLE 5.0 links your phone within a few metres. Create offline one-time or time-limited e-keys without internet. Auto-lock, logs, and user management work fully offline. WiFi is only needed for remote access, Alexa, Google Home, Siri, and Home Assistant. Many UAE renters skip the Bridge and unlock by phone or keypad. Your physical key always works.
Can I take it when I move?
Yes. Unmount four screws or peel 3M pads, remove the thumbturn adapter if fitted, and pack the lock for your next place. Reinstalling on a new euro-profile door takes three to five minutes. Does it work on my door (euro-cylinder compatibility)?
Nearly every UAE apartment and villa uses a euro-profile oval cylinder. Utopic RX clamps on with no cylinder swap. You need two millimetres gap between cylinder tail and door surface, or use the adhesive mount. Thumbturn cylinders need the supplied adapter. How long does installation take?
Most customers finish in three to five minutes first try. Four screws on the cylinder tail, direction calibration in the app, and a test cycle. No drilling, electrician, or locksmith required. Is there a UAE warranty?

What’s the return policy?
Return unused, unopened, unpaired units within seven days for change of mind, minus AED 100 restocking fee with original packaging. Installed, paired, or biometric-enrolled products are not eligible for change-of-mind returns but stay under two-year warranty.
